
New York City-born designer, francine toukou, was born and raised on
the busy and bustling upper-east-side of Manhattan. As a native-New
Yorker, francine is no stranger to fashion. Francine met and married her
husband, Moussa, while she was a student at Columbia University. Shortly
thereafter, they opened their trendy hair salon in Soho, and many other
successful creative endeavors followed. Francine has authored many
published magazine articles and craft books. Her work has graced the
covers of many magazines, including Vanity Fair, GQ,
Rolling Stone,and Essence Magazines. She has also
been featured on the cover of The New York Times
Style Section, and worked as a stylist on the sets of
David Letterman, The Cosby Show, Regis and Kelly,
and All My Children, among others. To date, Francine's
greatest passion, joy, creativity and accomplishment, is
in being the mother to her 3 sons, Tiassa, Kouadio &
Kouassi. It is her coveted privilege to pass the same
creativity on to them, that she gleaned at the knee of
her own artist-mother. Francine divides the hours of
her busy days between her husband, her sons, her
Manhattan salon, pattern making, cooking, painting,
sewing, crocheting, writing, photographing, blogging,
