On a beautifully crisp, fall day, in October of 1993, husband-and-wife-preneurs, Moussa, and Francine, opened the doors of their first salon Afrigenix, in Manhattan's trendy Soho district. later, they gave birth to their 3 sons, Tiassa, Kouadio and Kouassi.
The salon's traditional, yet cutting edge styling techniques made Afrigenix a quick hit! Success in the craft quickly lead to work in film, television and print, as well as international travel. Francine has worked as a stylist on The Cosby Show, The View, David Letterman, Regis & Kelly, Rosie O'Donnell, and ABC's All My Children, and has toured internationally as personal stylist to her private celebrity client roster. Her work has appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone Magazine, Vanity Fair, The New York Times Style Cover, & GQ, among a host of others.
Early on, they recognized a need for a line of simplistic, time-honored, growth-promoting, natural hair care products.
Clients from all walks of life expressed their frustration and disappointment with the many mass produced, ineffective, overly-commercialized products that were available on the market.
They quickly began their research and testing, and developed their own natural hair care line in response to the many needs that were being voiced to them.
Francine and Moussa have travelled all over the world, from Egypt, to Ghana, to Senegal, Japan, China, France, Monaco, Switzerland, Germany, Cote D'Ivoire, and a host of other places. They've discovered a great deal about beauty, and about beauty products, and feel blessed and honored to share what they've uncovered.
Their hope is that their unique combinations of natural ingredients and aromatherapeutic oils will bring healing, time- honored simplicity, joy and olfactory bliss into the lives of many - for many years to come !
